If I had to sum up my life’s journey it would be best described as “The search for meaning.” As a lifelong questioner and seeker of truth, I’ve always looked for patterns and connections, and have dug deeply to find core principles. In my search for meaning, I've naturally looked for ideas and languages that speak to the depth and wonder of the human experience. I discovered astrology in 1970 when I ran across Isabel Hickey’s "Astrology: A Cosmic Science". It sparked my passion and I studied extensively, starting informal consultations with friends and family. My college focus on psychology and philosophy complemented my astrological studies, as did my traveling in the US and abroad. In the mid-1990s, I was certified by one of the oldest astrological schools in Europe, the Faculty of Astrological Studies in England.
In the years following my certification, I was deeply involved in raising my wonderfully eccentric and intelligent daughter, pursuing artistic expression through folkloric dance, and volunteering for organizations and causes I believe in. My "day job" was in scientific research, though I operated as something of an infidel mystic among basic science investigators, some of whom were Nobel laureates. It was an invigorating and open-minded atmosphere and it taught me a great deal about the similarity between art and science. Throughout this time I attended astrology conferences and workshops and I realized that astrology was evolving rapidly. I felt called to augment my early training, so I applied to enter the four-year diploma program at Astrology University, notable for its gifted astrology coach and founder, Tony Howard. Tony created a very comprehensive curriculum by gathering together a highly-regarded teaching staff of professional astrologers who had broad experience as licensed therapists, historians, educators and authors. AU proved to be a mind-expanding experience of learning with gifted teachers and communing with like-minded student astrologers, all of whom are devoted to practicing astrology with open curiosity and integrity. I stay connected with the university through their graduate program to keep my skills fresh.
I continually study a number of extraordinary astrologers and psychologists whose books, articles, and workshops are the underpinning of my approach: Carl Jung, Liz Greene, Richard Tarnas, James Hillman, Safron Rossi, Carole Taylor, Jason Holley, Mark Jones, Brian Clark, and Richard Idemon. Moreover, I am deeply committed to furthering astrology as a legitimate profession dedicated to human potential and evolution.
